Massey Ferguson 390 Utility Tractor may not be as famous as Kubota or other brands of tractor. But when we talk about its specs, it has quite similar specs with other famous names as mentioned earlier. Despite being discontinued already (it was released in 1987 and discontinued after 10 years (1997)), what makes this tractor has quite many ‘fans’ admiring this unit?
First, let’s talk about the engine details. Massey Ferguson 390 Utility Tractor is using a Perkins engine which has 4 cylinders and 4.1 L of displacement (equals to 248 ci). The unit is working on diesel which can help you to produce a gigantic power at 81 HP (equal to 60.4 kW) at PTO HP of 70 HP (52.2 kW).
Massey Ferguson 390 Utility Tractor is equipped with a fuel tank with a capacity as huge as 28.5 gallon, which is equal to 107.9 L. Hence, this unit is great for heavy duty projects on your lawn since it can produce a huge power.
Talking about its mechanical aspects, Massey Ferguson 390 Utility Tractor is using either 4×2 2WD or 4×4 MFWD 4WD chassis. As for the steering type, the tractor is using a hydrostatic power steering. Differential wet disc is used as its braking system. As for its cab system, you can have this cab uses two-post ROPS. Its canopy is optional to use.
What about its transmissions? Turns out this unit is using two kinds of transmissions—which are the 12-speed synchromesh and 12-speed partial power shift. This said, you can get various options of speed.
If you are using synchromesh transmission type, you can rely on the unit to produce 12 forward range of speed and 4 for the reversed movement. The partial power shift transmission also produces the same speed ranges. Unfortunately, there is no data about how fast this unit could go for both types of movement.
Regarding the attachments, it’s unfortunate that Massey Ferguson 390 Utility Tractor isn’t equipped with any attachments. However, a source mentioned that this unit is only compatible with a 838-type loader which comes from the same manufacturer as well.
